LTTE, SLA commanders meet at no-man zone in Muttur

A delegation of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, led by Trincomalee district regional commander Colonel Pathuma, and Sri Lanka Army's General Officer Commanding in Trincomalee district, Major General Sunil Tennekoon, held discussions at the no-man zone in Kattaiparichchan in the Muttur division Wednesday evening, Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission sources said.

The discussion, which commenced around 4 p.m., concluded at about 5 p.m. The LTTE delegation comprised its district political head Mr.Thilak and commanders Mr.Mathu and Mr.Vimal, sources said.

The SLA delegation comprised Brigadier Zahir and another officer.

The one-hour discussion held in the presence of the acting head of the SLMM in Trincomalee, Mr.Kurt Spur, had focused attention on the recent violence that had taken place in Kinniya and other areas between Muslims and Tamils and the attempt to restore normalcy in the Trincomalee district, security sources said.
