Kfirs bomb Pooneryn

[TamilNet, Friday, 30 November 2007, 17:57 GMT]
Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) fighter jets bombed Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) controlled territory in Pooneryn Friday afternoon after circling above Jaffna peninsula around 1:30 p.m and 4:00 p.m, sources in Jaffna said.

Loud explosions were heard when the SLAF attack aircrafts dropped several bombs in Pooneryn and the nearby islets.

LTTE has not released any information about the air strike.

Meanwhile, more than 40,000 cellular phones in use in Jaffna peninsula which had been completely disconnected for nearly four days by Sri Lanka Army (SLA) in Jaffna were activated partly Friday evening.

SLA had disconnected the cellular phones during the days before and after LTTE Heroes’ Day.

The SLA in Jaffna very often disconnect the cellular phones in Jaffna unmindful of the inconvenience caused to the users, the sources added.
