Tigers, SLA clash at Manthivil

[TamilNet, December 03, 1997 23:59 GMT]
The Sri Lankan army said this evening that the Liberation Tigers had attacked its troops at Manthivil, in Jaffna last night, killing one soldier and wounding six.

It is not known if the LTTE sustained any casualties in the attack.

The army has been attacked in the Manthivil area repeatedly since late September.

The SLA's presence in this area is quite limited. Some parts between Sarasali and Manthivil which are northeast of Jaffna town and northwest of Chavakacheri are not occupied by the army at all.
